Meet Romana Thefs, Manager Sustainability Consulting here at Pathzero. Romana has had a passion for the environment since childhood and discovered a new appreciation of the Earth’s natural processes through geology. Learn about her sustainability journey and why she loves working with Pathzero.
Can you tell us about your role with Pathzero?
My role at Pathzero is Manager Sustainability Consulting. This role allows me to work closely with a talented group of sustainability consultants as well as clients from diverse industries.
My role is to guide our clients on their sustainability journey, with the ultimate outcome being for them to achieve their decarbonisation goals. It’s also our duty to understand the pressures and expectations placed on our clients to measure, report and reduce their emissions.
By understanding these pressures, we’re able to refine the steps required to achieve their goals. This can range from developing an emissions reduction strategy to achieving Climate Active carbon neutrality.
Why do you work with Pathzero – what drives and inspires you?
The people! Every day I’m excited to go to work as I’m surrounded by like-minded, passionate people who want to make a positive impact on the world.
I have the opportunity to work alongside industry experts and across an extensive range of business functions – from data engineers to product development, to customer support.
This has allowed me to develop skills in areas that I would not normally be exposed to. I’m constantly inspired by the outcomes our clients achieve and the drive and dedication my colleagues bring to work each day. This is what makes Pathzero an amazing and unique place to work.
Looking back, what led you to this career?
Since I was a child, I’ve always had a passion and appreciation for the environment. My aim was to make a difference in the world, through reducing our impact on the natural environment.
This led me to start my career as a geologist, where I developed a newfound appreciation for the Earth’s natural processes.
My career pivoted into environmental and sustainability management, which saw me reducing and mitigating the impact of a company's activities on the environment. I’ve worked across a wide range of industries, from mining, to contaminated land, to the heavy freight industry, and now Pathzero.
Is there anything else that you’d like to share?
Some interesting facts about me! I’ve completed my sommelier course (yes, I’m a wine lover), I’m an avid traveller, a keen cook, and I’m currently working towards completing my Master of Environmental Management.
Pathzero unites private market participants including asset owners, asset managers and portfolio companies on a common platform enabling the disclosure of carbon emissions and the actions being taken to address them.
